Experienced across the west coast, especially summer of 2020, forest fires are an incredibly dangerous form of natural disaster. All forms of life suffer from this often preventable catastrophe. Within this work I wanted to emulate the dread felt when the world goes dark around you, and all you can smell is smoke. To tailor to a broader population, and to really drive home the fact that these fires reach so much farther than the forests they begin in, I used no woodland imagery. Showing how large metro areas also suffer vastly from these disasters was of utmost importance. Physical and dynamic versions of this work are on the way.
