In these images I looked to capture one idea only: Apocalypse by Insect.
By utilizing a skeletal human hand, I looked to draw a connection to the viewer, to have them relate to the image. I then placed a single insectoid creature on the index finger, taunting the viewer, as if to say, you’re next.
In the middle two icons, I added drop shadow from the skeletal remains, and inverted one. This allowed for both a day and night version of the Icon. While the likelihood of a bug-pocalypse is low, in today’s climate, it’s best to be prepared...​​​​​​​
In each individual iteration, the image stays relatively unchanged. However, I was interested in creating a M.C Escher-esque effect in the image below, in order to create an optical illusion. Also, it is important to note that a single insect may be frightening, but a swarm is what ultimately causes an apocalypse.
