An artists’ book is a creative expression which holds importance to the author, whatever that importance may be. 10 Chores & Why We Do Them is my take on this form of expression. Mainly a jab at my own laziness when it comes to certain chores, I wrote out the (few) reasons I enjoy doing these menial tasks. Comprised of dusting, garbage, washing dishes, cleaning ones room, getting groceries, yard-work, doing laundry, and homework, the book offers one the chance to see beauty in monotony; my personal favorite being washing dishes, simply to warm your hands.

I crafted the book using my dad’s old Roseys awards poster from 2002, simply because he considered making it another chore. On the interior, I used slightly-transparent card-stock in order to give it a tough, cracked feel. The book is bound in a traditional three-hole method using wool-based twine. I also added the Rosey awards entrance ticket as a bookmark, despite the book itself only being 14 pages in length. The final page in the book contains a quote courtesy of yours truly.
